Prosperity REIT’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative
Hong Kong, 28 April 2025 – ESR Asset Management (Prosperity) Limited (the "REIT Manager"), as manager of Prosperity Real Estate Investment Trust ("Prosperity REIT") [SEHK: 808], is pleased to announce that Prosperity REIT’s greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions reduction targets have been validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (“SBTi”).
In 2024, we achieved a 40% reduction in Scope 2 emissions compared to the 2017 benchmark, far exceeding our initial target of a 20% decrease set in 2020. Building on this momentum, our emissions reduction targets are validated by the SBTi through the corporate route. Prosperity REIT has committed to reduce Scope 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030 using 2021 as the base year. We also set long-term emissions reduction targets in line with reaching net-zero by 2050.
These targets will be achieved through the execution of a series of asset enhancement initiatives, including upgrading building facilities to energy efficient models with building automation systems. These initiatives are expected to reduce GHG emissions and electricity costs, creating long-term value for the REIT, our stakeholders and the community.
